Day 26 - Rumours on Other Detention Centres

I knocked off my submissions today.  I may try a minor tune-up later.  But basically, it's done.  It's only 7 pages, the shortest submissions I have ever written for the Federal Court.  It is about a half of the normal/standard length even though I generously included extra stuff which I really don't need.  I may get rid of the extra when I tune-up later.  Then it'll be even shorter....  Well, it is a simple stupid case.  It does not need much argument.  But I am a bit worried.  Did I miss something???  I cannot think of.  But I am getting worried...

The Minister's lawyers responded to the Court.  It is quicker than I thought.  They do not oppose an order of a pro bono referral to be made in chambers.  Of course.  But then the judge became quiet.  There were full court sittings last week so he could be flying anywhere today.  I hope he will make an order for me tomorrow.

I had a chat with a refugee from North Africa.  He has spent one year and seven months in detention so far.  He went to Perth, Darwin, Melbourne and then here.  He told me that Perth and Villawood are similar.  Melbourne is terrible and the worst by far is Darwin which was closed.  An Asian woman heard from someone else that the best detention centre was Christmas Island.  I heard one of the guards and a doctor of IMHS talking about how beautiful Christmas Island was when I was escorted to here from the Gold Coast.  But I heard from a refugee advocate that Christmas Island Detention Centre was like a prison.  Anyway, the Asian woman wanted to go there because she had been told that crabs were served there for dinner and she fancied crabs.

I do not want to go anywhere other than my home with my little guinea pig.
