At the Villawood Immigration Detention Centre, the Immigration officers are supposed to come to see new detainees usually next day to the day of their arrival in the Centre. My case officer did not show up in my first three days. I was neglected. Today, my fourth day in Villawood, the guy eventually turned up.
My case officer is a middle-aged Indian Fijian migrant who worked for ATO before moving on to the Immigration a few years ago. Oops, I was not the interviewer. Anyway, he said to me, 'I heard you are a professor'. What?! I knew that people in detention had been talking for some time about a Japanese who would soon arrive. According to them, she is a professor. But I did not know that the source of the fake news was the Immigration!!! What on earth are they doing... To make me even more surprised, when I told him that I was not a professor, he asked me whether I was practicing medicine. What???! It was crystal clear that he did not know me. I am not an important person anymore. The top brass of the Department is not interested in me for sure. Thank goodness. That's good news.
The afternoon was also a visit. My old friends in Sydney came to see me all the way. Thank you for coming. You two made my day.
The last event of the day was a big fight. Not my fight, of course. Two girls had a physical fight and one of them fell on the ground. Wow... I have never seen girls' fight in 2006. To avoid doubt, at least one of the two was not a 501. I do not know about the other one.
